Night and Fire
A poem by my daughter Emily, which she wrote recently for a 6th Grade English class assignment. You have to get all the way to the last line.
Night and Fire
I am Night and Fire
I flee from the Dawn
I hide what has been done
None escape my shadowed eye
The murderer
The thief
They love the black blanket
With which I cover the world
I inspire fear
Distrust and malice
Loneliness and cruelty
All these are attained in me
I am Night and Fire
I flee from the Dawn
I hide what has been done
None escape my shadowed eye
I am prince of this realm
The earth is my dominion
I love those who kill
The murderer, my pet
I try to poison the content with doubts
I rejoice over those who weep
I smirk and remind them of their sorrows
I purr – this is my nightly game
I am Night and Fire
I flee from the Dawn
I hide what has been done
None escape my shadowed eye
Slash, slice, and cut
The Light comes
I fall away reluctantly
Vowing my revenge
My opportunity comes
I bury the sun and rule
Enjoying fleeting royalty
For Light reigns in the end
I am Night and Fire
I flee from the Dawn
I hide what has been done
None escape my shadowed eye…
Except for those who love the Light.
