Snowy Surprise
* * *
Today started out at -3°C, with icy tracks on the driveway, which Emily delighted in slipping all over, but the brilliant sunshine has warmed things up to a balmy 2°C.Good thing we got our snow play in on Sunday afternoon in the front yard, while it was still good and frozen. First, Jason and David buried Emily sitting up:
Then (first watch the video at the top of this post, since below lie spoilers),
David and Emily buried Jason properly, lying down. At his request, they finished the job and covered his face as well. Then we videoed him emerging...as you've seen above. He said it was a little spooky having snow poured over your face and being completed covered by it. I'm not surprised.
Then last night, when things had already been melting during the day, the kids got creative again, in the back yard this time. The snow was great for packing, being so moist from the melting. This snowman is LIFE-sized, at least as tall as I am (5'7" or 170cm):
Wish I had a person in it to show the scale, but no one was available to go out there at photo time.
The birds are chirping. The brown forsythia branches are no longer coated in white. But I'm not fooled - there's more winter coming.
