Game Drive #4: Wednesday, Oct 13, 5:30am-8:30am
-herd of 45 impala
-yellow-billed hornbill
-3 male lions sleeping in the utmost peace, calm and relaxation,
camouflaged in long yellow grass
-Egyptian geese
-3 white rhinoceroses very close up, grazing with oxpeckers eating the
ticks off their backs, and fork-tailed drongos (black birds) eating
the insects the rhinos stirred up as they walked
-the herd of cape buffalo in the daylight this time! They walked right
around our vehicle and kept going. That makes all of the big 5 seen in
daylight now: lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, elephant)
-red-breasted swallows
-baboons
-dwarf mongoose
-black-shouldered kite
-pied crow
-turtledoves
-also more hippo, waterbuck, green pigeon, African hoopoe, warthogs,
grey duiker, secretary birds, elephants with wee baby, so cute)
-hyena tracks
