Untitled

Game Drive #3: Tues Oct 12th, 4:30-7:30pm
-3-banded plovers
-6 elephants (with babies)
-rhino bulletin board - where they leave their droppings to say "I'm
in charge around here" (dominant adult male) or "I'm available to
mate" (females) or "just stopping by" (adolescent males) or "I
challenge you for this territory" (other adult males).
-lilac-breasted roller
-tawny eagle
-black-bellied bustard
-secretary bird
-7 giraffe - so stately!
-bearded woodpecker
-arrow-marked babbler
- male leopard near his double kill - an impala now hanging limply
from a tree with one thigh chewed off, and a kudu stored at the base
of the tree for another course.
-White-backed vulture
-300 Cape Buffalo at dusk
-grass owl
-scrub hare

We were welcomed back by wonderful African singing & hot vegetable
soup (by now the weather was cold again). Then BBQ dinner in the boma
- an enclosure of talk branches around a fire pit.
