Making "Coming Home Now" Phone Calls Fun
David calls me most nights to let me know he's on his way home, so I can time dinner better and so on. Very considerate and appreciated. However, it was getting a little uninspiring there, when he'd say he was on his way, and I'd say something like, "Great." Over and over. SO! Now, we're having a lot more fun: we're going through the alphabet naming places we've been together, one letter per day. He doesn't even need to say he's coming home, because we both know that's why he called. The phone rings, I pick up and say, "Appenzell" and he replies, "Almaden" (or we could have said Arizona or Austria). Or I say, "Bermuda!" and he replies, "I was thinking of the Boston Harbor Hotel" (where we spent probably the most memorable and amazing night of our lives, our wedding night). When we get to Z, I guess David will come up with another wonderful topic - he's the one who thought of this one. In the meantime, we're reminiscing and smiling over the phone, all the more eager to hug when he walks through the door.
