South African Giraffe & Hippos

I think these should be called the Other Big Two. Ok, they are not as threatening and hard to hunt perhaps as lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and cape buffalo, but they are a fun sight on a safari, for sure. In fact, I find them more interesting than 3/5 of the Big Five, which is why they are featured in the middle of the group. I'll continue with the Big Five in my next post.

A journey of giraffe - that's the collective name for them...we misunderstood our guide's accent at first to say "a jenny" - oops

Isn't he gorgeous?

Just the right height

They really do this...we didn't even have to ask them.

A raft of hippopotami - another inventive collective name

Just the tip of the iceberg

Hippos stay under the water most of the time so they don't get sunburned. Sensitive skin, you know.

My beloved at work - he took photos of animals, and I took photos of him taking photos of animals. :-)
