You're born, and then your life is never the same again.

I came to this thought in approximately the following way:

Oh my goodness, my son is going to college later this year, and my life is never going to be the same again.

But wait, there was a time I didn't have him at all, and then I had him, and my life was never going to be the same again.

But before that I left my own parents and went away to college, and my life was never going to be the same again.

Oh, hang it all, I was born, and then my life was never the same again.
